Merstham FC’s Future Secured as Work Begins on New 3G Facility

Merstham Football Club is delighted to confirm that work has officially begun on our new FIFA Quality 3G pitch - a transformational project that represents one of the most significant milestones in the club’s history.

This is a day that will be remembered in the history of Merstham Football Club. A vision that has been years in the making is now becoming reality, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter both on and off the pitch.

The new facility will provide a first-class home for football and recreation in Merstham, ensuring we can continue to grow while creating a lasting legacy for future generations.

As part of this exciting project, we are also delighted to confirm that Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has agreed a new 30-year lease with the club. For the first time, both our football ground and clubhouse are now covered under a single long-term agreement, providing the certainty needed to invest with confidence and secure the future of Merstham Football Club.

The club has also been awarded a £500,000 grant through Reigate & Banstead Borough Council’s Community Asset Transfer and Support Programme. The programme has been created to help local organisations improve community assets so they continue to benefit residents for generations to come.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Reigate & Banstead Borough Council for believing in our vision, investing in our future and helping make this transformational project possible. In particular, thanks go to our local Councillors and officers in the community partnership and property and estates departments for their collaborative approach, expertise and sheer hard work.

Projects of this scale simply do not happen overnight, and there are many people who deserve recognition.

In particular, within the club we would like to thank our Director, Mathew Boardman, whose tireless commitment, countless hours of work and determination to navigate the extensive application, funding and planning processes have been instrumental in making this project a reality. Quite simply, without Mathew’s dedication, persistence and countless hours of work, this project would not have happened.

We would also like to thank Blakedown for their support and expertise throughout the process. Their hard work, professionalism and commitment to helping us navigate the planning process in such a short timeframe has been invaluable in helping bring this project to life. We look forward to working with them as the transformation of The Hybrid Fitness Stadium continues.

Groundshare Arrangements

While work is carried out, we will play our home fixtures at Sevenoaks Town, and we would like to thank everyone at the club for their support and hospitality in welcoming us for the first few months of the season.

Our first home fixture at Sevenoaks will be our Emirates FA Cup tie against Raynes Park Vale on Saturday 8th August. KO 3pm.

Supporters are reminded that all midweek home fixtures at Sevenoaks will kick-off at 7:30pm on Wednesdays.

The current programme of works is expected to see us return to The Hybrid Fitness Stadium in October, subject to the successful completion of the project.

We understand the additional travel this will involve for our supporters and are currently exploring the possibility of organising coach travel to Sevenoaks for home fixtures. Further information will be shared as soon as arrangements have been confirmed.

This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Merstham Football Club. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back home to a facility that will serve our players, supporters and the wider community for many years to come.

The future starts now.
